Wowsers! It's time to re-fire the blog engine and capture some of the great things we are able to do with friends. For the moment, we'll focus on our cycling activities but over time we may be able to broaden out a bit.
Ride: Feb 2, 2023
In order to avoid riding on Ground Hog Day to miss the critters coming out of their burrows, we did our weekly scout ride on Thursday (this was not an "Official" Cascade Bicycle Club) in order to see about some areas for future rides. Our route took us up Louis Thompson Road to the Sammamish Plateau where we headed south (and more up) into the Issaquah Highlands to the Village Green Park which was our turnaround. I haven't been up there in probably close to a decade so it was fun to see how much of it was the same. However, I did forget (or was I just younger and more fit) how steep is the climb up College Avenue - Lee S. said his Garmin showed 15% while Dayle's Garmin said hers showed 18%. Either way, it was a steep pitch but fortunately not long....still it was a bit challenging. Everyone loved our swooshing descent back to Issaquah on the paved trail. Coffee and pastries were found at the Issaquah Coffee Company which had adequate outdoor seating in the sunny 50+F weather! It is always slammed with people on Sundays when we get there so it was great to see it "as it should be"! We followed the break with a smooth, kind of fast cruise back northward on E Lk Sammamish Pkway and back to our starting point at 60 Acres Park. Riding today: Lee G (Happy Birthday!), Deanna G., Lee S., Dayle I., and Joan L.
We also ran into Karen B. and Joni G. at the start who were heading out on their own ride that day. Maybe a future ride will have us all riding together?
